Dotted Lines around highlighted area

I am working in a word document written by another party. It has areas where I can double click and I have a chose of two or three common text itmes I can choose from. It adds them to by word document. On the screen it will always show up highlighted which is good. However, when I print it has a small dotted line around them. How can I remove that small dotted box when I print?

Thanks

First you have to figure out where the dotted box is coming from.

Select the drop-down field and look at Format>Borders and shading. What do
you see?

The highlighting comes from Tools>Options>View>Field Shading "Always". I
also leave that on all the time, so I can see what I am doing when I am
editing.

Cheers

Yes I have tried that. The format Boarders and Shading shows clear or none. My problem is that the "drop down form fields option" has a dotted line around the (highlighted) text when printed. This Word option works so that when I double click on it a box appears and I can choose from two or three text items I can commonly use in my documents. It is highlighted when on screen which is good and I like that. I just don't want the dotted line to appear when I print.
Thank you for responding to my question.

Good Day!

Hey John -

Is it possible the doc contains an AUTOTEXTLIST field rather than a
Drop-Down Form Field? If so the border/box could be a part of the individual
entry being inserted, no?

Yeah, it could be.

I think we need to get a sample from the poster so we can see what's going
on.

Stan, could you email Bob or myself a small sample please? We can't tell
from your description how this is happening. There are several potential
cause of this problem, and the cure is different for each.

Cheers
