dotx is locked for editing by user

Good day!
I'm trying to use Word automation to create an RTF document
programmatically. But if I have opened Word before running my application,
I'm getting an error that "BuildingBlocks.dotx is locked for editing by
'user'". Why is this so? I also have tried using Word automation before in
2003, but this doesn't happen. Any workaround? Thank you very much.
