Double Availability - duplicate resource

Hi

This is my first post so here goes...

I run a Portfolio Analyser report each week showing work and availability.
I've noticed that one of the resources has twice the availability as everyone
else.

If I look at the availability in the resource centre then the info is
correct for the way the calendars are set up...40hrs/week.
I have checked the resource calendar settings, and the max units for the
resource in question are 100% in the Resglobal file. Deleting the cube and
rebuilding has no affect. Neither does updating the availability only without
a cube build.

When I look in the MSP_CUBE_RESOURCES table there are 2 instances of this
same resource, with RES_ENTRUID's of 9 and 730.
In the MSP_RESOURCES and MSP_WEB_RESOURCES tables there's only one instance
of the resource with a RES_EUID of 730 (the RES_EUID of 9 is missing from
both tables)

Has anyone else seen this problem before?
Can I delete the duplicate resource at RES_ENTRUID of 9 in the
MSP_CUBE_RESOURCES table?
We run a Project Server 2003 system.

Thanks

Yes, I've seen this. And, yes, you can delete the orphaned resource.

This is a very rare problem. There is some speculation that it may result
from a unique series of actions, including publishing assignments to the
resource when they are Project Server authenticated and then publishing again
after switching them to Windows authentication; but those actions alone are
not sufficient to cause the problem.

Hi Reid

Thanks for the quick reply.
I deleted the orphaned resource from the MSP_CUBE_RESOURCES table and
rebuilt the cube but the availability is still double what it should be. When
I go back into the
MSP_CUBE_RESOURCES table the orphaned resource has reappeared again at
RES_ENTRUID no. 9!

In the MSP_CUBE_RES_AVAIL_FACT table there's a whole load of data in there
for RES_ENTRUID 9. (for each date there's an 8 or 0 depending on the day
which I presume is the available hours depending on the calendar set up?)
Is the availability data coming from here? and does the MSP_CUBE_RESOURCES
table update with this data when I run the cube?

Thanks in advance

Rich

It's also in another table, which I haven't time to look up right now. I'll
try to get to it, but neanwhile you might poke around and find it.

You need to delete the resource from two tables:
MSP_RESOURCES
MSP_AVAILABILITY

Then rebuild the OLAP Cube.
