Double booking of a resource

I have a conference room set up as a resource on Exchange
5.5. Users can send a meeting request to the resource and
book the conference room. However, two users can book for
the same time without being warned of a conflict. Is
there some setting I need to turn on?

Yes, you can set the resource mailbox up to reject conflicting appointments.
