double click events and excel's edit mode..

Hi,

I am writing a com addin in C++. I am capturing double click event in excel
and trying to display new text. On double click excel goes to edit mode and
crashes if I try to display some thing into that cell. How to make sure excel
doesn't go into edit mode ? Please help.
