Double click on excel file does not open it

Hi all,

This is probably too simple but recently the following problem started on my
machine. When I double click on any excel file (eg somefile.xls) the excel
window opens but the file is not visible even if I click on the Window menu
button nothing is there.

The only way I can make the files visible is if I drag the files from the
explorer on top of the opened excel window. What is going on? Is the file
association mucked up or is it something else?

(I am using WinXP with Office XP)

Hi Milos,

Are you unable to open them using File/Open??

In any event, yes it sounds like a problem with your file association.
You can easily recreate it by going to Start/Run and running:

excel /regserver

Note the space before the forward slash.
