Double click on .pps does not work

When using windows explorer and I double click on a file with a .pps
extension, I get 4 errors stating the path is invalid, then PowerPoint opens
without a document. I can click Open, and My Documents are displayed, I can
click on the original document and it opens ok. Double clicking on other
file types opens the correct application and the correct document. Any
suggestions?
