Double-click word selection going overboard

K

When I double-click a word to bold or underline, the space after it
gets selected as well. Except for Word, no other program on the Mac
does this!

How do I get double-click to select just the word like every other
program on Mac? (I want this in Word as well, though it does the
underlining correctly, unlike Entourage.) This bug is annoying me to
pieces.

Look in Entourage preferences under General. Deselect "Use Microsoft Office
keyboard shortcuts for editing text".

Unfortunately, in my experience, that preference setting has no effect
on whether Entourage selects the space following a word when you
double-click a word.

Command + click the word. Not as nice as being able to double-click but
you'll get the results you're after.

Hope this helps!

Cool, that is at least a decent workaround, though I will have to get
used to it.

I've already submitted the bug for both Word and Entourage, but I have
no idea if MS will ever address it. Since MS applications on Windoze
have the same problem, someone at MS must think it is supposed to work
this way. I would at least like the option for it to work the normal
way.
