Double-clicking a formula

For some reason, when I double-click a formula now,
instead of highlighting the different components of the
formula in different colors, my active cell is jumping
around the worksheet to the components of the formula.

When I look at the Edit menu, the "undo" option shows that
Excel just performed a "goto special" command.

I don't know what caused this to change, but I can't find
a setting to change back to the default. It doesn't
matter if it's a new or existing worksheet. Any ideas?
