Double clicking Word Docs in Explorer Error

I'm running Office 2007 Standard on Windows 7 RC. When I try to open a Word
document by double clicking the file in explorer the computer generates an
error message "There was a problem sending the command to the program" and
"Microsoft office has stopped working, checking for a solution". I had the
same problem in Vista.

If I open the document from Word by starting Word first everything works
fine. Had a look through all the threads but nothing seems to match my
problem, Ive tried deleteing the Data key in regedit and renaming the
Normal.dot file but no joy. Help!

You are not alone,
I am running the same setup and my word 2007 symptoms are "identical" to
yours. Problem just started to occur a couple of days ago.

Looking for a registry key solution, maybe something with the "dde" keys.
I looked in the registry under the following two locations:
Microsoft Office Word-shell-edit-command
Winword.exe-shell-edit-command

The command key has the following:
Default - "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\WINWORD.EXE" /n /dde
command - vUpAVX!!!!!!!!!MKKSkWORDFiles>tW{~$4Q]c@5d1`,xaTO5 /n /dde

The ddeexec key has the following:
Default - [REM _DDE_Direct][FileOpen("%1")]

I thought there might be a "%1" addition to place onto the command/default
key.
How are your settings?
