double sided printing

Processor: Intel

I author a 1000 page handbook and every 18 months print out a new manuscript to work from. Since changing to a new iMac computer, neither of my former methods work to do that.
When I try to use my HP5550 printer with a double sided printing attachment to print both sides of the paper, the second side is printed upside down to the first side. I cannot find a way to change that. Worked fine with previous iMac.
My backup strategy is to print just odd pages, then run them through upside down printing even pages. Now i always get even pages no matter the odd or even button checked?
I'm baffled.Maybe the two problems are related?
Thanks

Check your Word preferences and Print layout settings are not
cancelling one another out. I think I solved a similar problem by
setting Word's prefs to default numpty mode and doing all the clever
stuff in the print dialog. Sorry I can't be more specific. Leopard's
print dialogs are quite a bit different from Tiger's. Much less spotty
surprisingly.

Since you are using an hp printer, you might also try sacrificing a
goat. Chickens are not powerful enough voodoo. As a 5550 owner, you
should have no trouble carrying a goat to the altar.
A mate of mine has one, he stores its toner cartridges in my large
agricultural barn. They won't fit in his house.

as a Famous or infamous President once said (depending upon party
affiliation ;-) ). There you go again ....

why does everyone like to beat up on HP and Printer's?

Adobe and HP have had a Love/hate yen/yang relationship since back in
pre OSX days. Use to be that every time HP would provide a Driver
update, Adobe would come out with acrobat/Reader up dates that would
break them. Now MS ?

I've used HP Printers for years my first being a 650c that I had to
replace because they didn't have an OSX driver. Now I use a 990cse.

I kind of suspect I now have driver issue with my 990 now that's broken
by Acrobat 9. But I am not sure.

To me I found my Hp printers to be very reliable. And even though the
ink cartridges are expensive. , it because you get a new set of print
heads with each cartridge (built-in). and if you have problem with
clogged heads you just replace cartridge if you can't unclog them. Other
like Epson have the heads built into printer and if they get clogged,
its an new printer.
