double space after a period

Can you force Word 2000 to double space after each period
in a document. Is there a setting that I have not found.

Thanks
Paul

Paul,

Even though it's quite difficult to find a typewriter
anymore, there are still several from the Old school that
insist on using two spaces after a period. Modern word
processing tries to accomodate this, but it is at the
expense of lost formatting in many instances.

There is a setting in your grammar checker...

Tools | Options | Spelling and Grammar | Settings: and
mark the number of spaces after a period as 2.

Hi Paul:

With either the grammar checker, or find and replace, you
can search the document and consider each period -- some
get the extra space, some don't (e.g., middle initials,
Mr., Ms.)

There is a macro available that does the job almost
instantly. It has to make some guesses based on
probability, so only has about 98% accuracy. It is
included with the book "SUPER-CHARGING Your Scan
Cleanups" -- e-mail to
(e-mail address removed)
if you'd like more info. (Please include BOOK OFFER in
the subject line.)
