I think it actually works the other way around. Those of us who are curious
about Word's features are constantly looking at menu and dialog items and
trying to figure out what they do. This one obviously is for compatibility
with WordPerfect, which does wrap spaces (in excess of one) to the next
line. And I have to say I can't imagine what search term you might
reasonably think of that would be likely to turn up this answer in Help even
if the feature were documented, but several KB articles have been written
that describe what the Compatibility Options do (in more detail than you'll
find in Help). Among these are:
"WD97: Description of the Compatibility Tab in Options Dialog Box for Word
97"
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=166016
"WD2002: Description of Compatibility Tab in Options Dialog Box"

Suzanne, the details you and the other MVPs know boggles my brain!!
How in the heck would anyone ever be expected to find this?? What
would you put in the Help search to find this out?
Or do you just learn these things because you had a problem one day
and would not stop till you searched every nook and cranny for the
answer?
Thanks for being so smart and willing to help!
