Double-Spaced Footnotes in Word '08?

Hello,

When I create footnotes in Word, I usually expect them to appear one
below the other, like this:

Footnote 1
Footnote 2

However, sometimes in Word '08, the footnotes are created like this:

Footnote 1

Footnote 2

I don't know why it's doing this, I can't seem to figure out what
causes it (some of my footnotes appear perfectly fine). I'd like to
fix this, if possible, and submitted this in case anyone else has
experienced the problem and has found a solution.

Is this happening in the same document or is it one way in some and the
other in others? What have you done with regard to formatting of footnotes?
Have you applied any Document Themes? Are the documents based on different
templates. What other details can you supply?
