DoubleClick problems in Open/Save Dialogs

Since installing Office 2003 Professional, the double-click does not function
in the open and save dialog windows.

Previously in an open/save dialog, double-clicking would open directories
and would automatically open/save a file when double-clicking on the name.
Now I have to highlight it first, single click, and then double-click.

Curiously, the double-click functions normally in everything else, all other
programs and windows explorer's dialogues.

Has anyone experienced this? It almost seems to be a security feature to
prevent inadvertant activation of an item, but I can't find any information
on it.

Must be a local phenomena, double-click works fine here, for Navigation
and file Save or open

I should clarify. I can double-click using two presses of the left mouse
button. Double-click does not function when I use the Large Thumb Button on
my IntelliMouse Explorer which is programmed for Double-click.

Then obviously double-click DOES work. Perhaps the solution is to
determine "where the programming is set to work" and change it to be
effective in Office apps! Please look at the mouse settings.

Ah, but that is why I foolishly stick with as much Microsoft as I can.
Microsoft IntelliPoint software controls the double-click that works
everywhere but in my Microsoft Office applications. My expectations is that a
Microsoft mouse driver setting that works perfectly well in Microsoft Windows
and all of my other Microsoft Windows based applications would work perfectly
well in Microsoft Office.

There's no programming for me to check. There's a pull-down list in
Microsoft Intellipoint software that allows me to assign a Double-Click to
the Large Thumb Button. It should be that simple and it worked perfectly well
in Office XP. Install Office 2003 and it doesn't work.

Have you tried un-assigning, reassiging, said button. Other
troubleshooting such as, testing other locations in Office where double
click works if you do a double click, as opposed to the "simulated"
double click?

The only place that I've noticed it is in the 'browsing' windows. Yes I've
reasssigned the action.

Looks like the "2003 Office" File Open/Save As dialog box uses a
different feature set than the rest of the system. And something in the
way the "fake" double click gets generated by that version of the mouse
driver doesn't seem to be making it to the interface. Try a different
Intellipoint version?
