"downgrading" from Office 2008 "standard" to "home and student"?

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Hi,
Until my in-laws got their own software, I temporarily installed Office 2008 Standard version, and they have been happily using it. But after installation, I realized that that version isn't available anymore (Home&Student or Media version only...). They ended up buying the Home&Student version and now we are about to uninstall the Standard version and reinstall one of the Home&Student version.

So before I do this, i wanted to make sure there isn't any unintended disruption...

my question is:
1. will this disrupt the Entourage identity and the e-mail contents, or will be transparent once the new downgraded Student version is installed. All e-mail account uses POP, so not having exchange server support on student version isn't an issue

2. any pitfalls other than deleting the /Applications/Office 2008 folder and any of the ~/Library/Preferences/*.plist that says "office" on it?

3. can I just replace the license key instead of re-installing everything? would that just deactivate the part of Standard version that doesn't exist in the Home/Student version?

You should be just fine. The uninstaller doesn't touch user data by the
way.

Use the uninstaller instead. It will take care of deleting everything
that needs to be deleted for you.

I fear not... You have to uninstall then reinstall and reupdate
everything.

They now call the Standard version the Business Edition. See this page for
help with version info:

An Entourage 2008 Identity cannot be used by Entourage 2004. You would have
to manually export your data then import it into Entourage 2004.

I was thinking downgrade from 08 to 04, not in boxed version. The H&S
version uses the same database as the standard version.

See this page for help removing the trial and installing a retail copy.
