Download a Word 2007 Form from a FP 2003 Site

I've created a form in Word 2007 that includes text boxes and check boxes
that visitors should be able to download and save from a link to that file
posted on a FrontPage 2003 Web site. When the file is downoaded, it comes in
as some type of zip file. Why is this happening? Go to
http://11e1.gdpkeyboarding.com/Questionnaire.htm and click the link in this
sentence: "Click here to download the Questionnaire."

Thanks in advance for any advice.

its not a word document, they are zipped .xml files as far as I can tell.
Your BEST bet for this would be to create a form in Word then create a pdf
form that can be fillable and put that online, that way it can be opened by
anyone.

A word 2007 document saved as a .docx file IS a zip file. It contains, as Rob mentioned, a bunch of XML files that comprise the document. To open it usefully you need Word 2007 or later installed.
For the web, save the document as .doc in Word 97-2003 format, and almost everyone with any recent version of Word or Open Office will be able to open it.
Having said that, those users with IE will find it opens in their browser, rather than downloads as a file - for those either add a comment near the link to Right Click the link and choose Save As, or place the document in a ZIP file for download.

Great suggestion. I'll give it a try. I also posted this in the Word
newsgroup and got help--all of it very involved. This sounds like the
simplest fix. Thanks again.

It is....for two reasons...one is that not everyone will have Word, the
second is unless you mess around with the Word form a lot, when someone
enters data it will mess up the formatting.
