Download Controls Error

One of the resources downloading the ActiveX controls keep seeing the same
error message. "The controls for Project Web Access could not be downloaded
correctly. Please check your security settings in Internet Explorer or
contact your system administrator."

I have checked her security settings and she has enabled or set up a prompt
for every ActiveX option. Are there any other settings that she has that
might prevent her from downloading the ActiveX controls? No other resources
behind the same firewall are experiencing this issue.

Hi Andy,

Is it possible that she may not have the appropriate desktop security
rights? ( based on your group policy maybe).
Lets try the following:
Log on as a local administrator and try to download the ActiveX controls.
Since the Active x is for all users on the desktop, your resource does not
need to download them anymore. This would solve the problem and should proof
that she doesnt have the appropriate "install" rights for the desktop.
I hope that helps

Mark, someone in my team is receiving the same problem as Aaron. Assuming
the person does not have the proper install rights, how does one obtain them?
We've spent hours on this issue. Everyone appears to have the same settings.
Thanks.

On that link, it says "IMPORTANT: This download does not work with Project
Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or later versions"

Is there any other way to manually install the ActiveX Controls if we are on
SP1 or later?

Hi Andy,

This happens when you upgrade your service packs. Your "old" Desktop Active
X for PWA need to be replaced by the new once.

The most effective way to do this is from a DOS prompt. You can navigate to
\windows\downloaded program files directory and execute del pj*.* at the DOS
prompt.

We developed a little script. i am happy to share with you if you have many
desktops to do. just send me an email to (e-mail address removed) and I will
send you a Zip that has all files and batch processes required.
Thanks
Marc
