download for office updates failed using internet explorer

The question here is why would I not have any trouble downloading the office
2003 sp2 and outlook updates using aol explorer but would get booted off when
using internet explorer saying that internet explorer had encountered a
problem and would have to close. I tried several times with no success and
then finally gave the aol explorer a chance and VOILA!!! had no problem at
all. I guess kudos goes to AOL for downloading microsoft.

I seem to have the same problem I suppose. Only I do not get any error code,
just an installation failed message when attempting to install the following
updates,
Update for Office 2003 (KB907417)
Security Update for Excel 2003 (KB905756)
Update for Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB913161)
Office 2003 Service Pack 2
Update for Outlook 2003 (KB913807)
The auto update notification balloon keeps showing back up everytime I try
to install the updates, and each time I have tried to install them it just
says failed. No error numbers.

You might want to try downloading them using another browser. They worked
fine with the AOL browser which I have only because I have the new aol
instant messenger. There is also the Mozilla browser. Just a suggestion. I
don't know why it worked with the AOL and not Microsoft and I'm pretty upset
with them because of it but am glad I finally got the downloads, the exact
ones you are talking about.
