Download Location for Office 2007? (Not Tech Refresh)

B

bettysue

Hi,

I just got a new system and need to download the original Office 2007 Beta.
There is one link I found, however I keep getting a site not available try
later message (two days now).

I don't mind paying the $1.50, I just can't find a viable link for the US
download.

Any suggestions?

thank you,

betty

The Office Preview Site (the download page for Beta 2) was scheduled to
be taken off the web Wednesday. That didn't happen, but it was only a
matter of time when it happened.
I would assume that the download of Beta 2 has been taken off the web by
now and it is no longer available. Hopefully you still have the old
download sitting on a computer somewhere.

I downloaded office 2007 beta sometime ago to my business computer and was
enjoying with no problems. I downloaded the "updates" yesterday and suddenly
I couldn't open any of my office files or start any of the office programs.
The computer would reply insufficient memory to run program. I have 15 gigs
left on the main drive and I upped my cache to ensure there was enough space.
Every other program I have worked and started fine so I assumed it was the
Office beta program and uninstalled it so I could re-install it. Now I can't
find a copy anywhere online and I can't access my business files! Plus,
Microsoft wants 245.00 to just have a conversation. Man, am I pissed. Can
anyone offer me some help?? Please.

1. Running beta software on business critical machines - big no-no.
2. Uncheck the Office AV plug-in from Norton.
3. Beta software is unsupported - they would have refused anyway.

I have looked, but can not find the "Uncheck the Office AV plug-infrom
Norton". I have seen this several times, but can't find it. Help please.

I think what happened is that you mixed B2TR files and RTM files. See
http://pschmid.net/blog/2006/11/11/77

You should double-check what you downloaded and installed. Anything with
a release date in November is RTM and should not be mixed with B2TR.

A System Restore might actually be your best bet right now to get your
system in a workable condition again.

Hi Sid,

The method varies a little bit by version of Symantec/Norton products.

If you right click the Norton Antivirus icon in the system tray area on your Windows Task bar and go into the settings. Locate the
'Miscellaneous' tab and uncheck the Office Plug in choice.

Problem. When Beta wouldn't open my files anymore I uninstalled it and don't
have the original download (I like a clean house, my mistake). My business
partner had it and copied it to a disk for me but it saves on my computer as
a technical refresh.!?

I tried to do a system restore but the little calendar only shows November,
won't let me scroll back to October, and doesn't show any restore points at
all for Nov even though everything seems to be on. Honestly I didn't even
know I had restore points. HOw do you make a restore point, for future
reference?

How the heck am I going to access my files before Feb when I can buy a copy
of the new office suite?????

Trial versions will be available for download December 1.
Till then, install your copy of Office 2003 and install the RTM
Compatibility Pack with it.

Bob,
Thank you so very much. With you help and instructions, I am now able to
open attachments in my email and open files with other MS Office 2007
applications. I was able to open the application, but could not open files.
I really appreciate you help. I was just about to unistall MS Office 2007
Beta and re-install 2003.

I hope this string will help someone else.
