Download messages twice

I am using Outlook 2003 on a windows Vista system with Att.Yahoo ISP. It has
worked fine for several months. However, the last few days when I press the
send / receive button it does download the messages waiting at the server
level. But, immediately after downloading all the messages it starts over and
downloads them again so that i end up with two exact messages for every
original message received at the server level.

Does anyone know what's happening and more importantly how to correct this
situation?

Sorry about that. I had the "leave a copy of messages on server" checked
under advamced settings for my e-mail account.
I have corrected this setting and all is well now.
