Problems with MS Office updates. Help needed, please.
Op.Syst. Windows XP Pro, Comp. Dell 4550 Dimension
Error message reads: Unable to check for updates on this
computer, re: windows installer patch files (.MSP) from
previously applied office updates are missing from the
windows installer on computer. .MSP files are stored on
your computer after the update installation completes
because they need to be run during update operations. if
the files are missing you will not be able to apply
office updates or you installed office updates and then
upgraded from windows installer version 1.0 to version 1.1
Dell said to re-install CD-rom of SP1 & SP2. However,
they will not load from my download file ??
Can anyone help, please. I am a computer dumb-head so go
easy with the tech stuff. Step by step guides good.

Check for any other office version or any stand alone
version for word or othe r office applications in control
panel-add remove program. If u have any other version
installed remove that.

Keshav, many thanks for reply but do not understand what I am looking for in Add/Remove programs. What ? other version of Office & what ? is meant by stand alone versions and finally, what other Office applications are there.
