Download/synchronize remote website

I've had to reinstall Windows following a drive failure so there is nothing
on my PC relating to my website. I have installed Frontpage 2003 but it was
so long ago that I set it all up (plus I'm a novice!) I can't remember how to
connect to my website and get it all synchronized by downloading my website
to my PC.

My web server has FP extentions enabled and I'm sure I did not use FTP. What
does seem strange is that when selecting "use FP extentions" I am not asked
for a username or password, just the domain?

You need to publish down to your PC from the remote server.(I'm sure you
know that already)

So.....

Start Frontpage

Go to File > Open > Site,

Type in the full URL of your site,

You will be asked for your username and password.

This will open the site "live" in FP.

Go to File > Publish Site and choose the destination (which in this case is
your PC - so choose the 'file system' option)

Choose the location (such as c:\my documents\my webs.....etc).

Note: the 'local' web is the server; the 'remote' web is your PC. It's
arranged that way where you have the site open, that's the local machine -
in this case you have the live site open - so the web server is your "local
site" for the purposes of publishing the site.

This will publish all the pages and files to your C: drive. It may take a
while, depending on your connection.

When you're done, you can close the connection to your web server;

You can open and work on the "local" (in this case local means "your PC" -
you can update the files etc and then publish to the web server (which in
this case becomes the 'remote' server.).

Apologies if I've outlined the procedure you already know, its just that you
may need to double check you're doing all the above.

As to not being prompted for your logon, can you still open the live site?
It may be that your details are *saved* and it logs on automatically without
asking for the password everytime - although, as you have said you
reinstalled your operating system, this wouldn't happen since you have
restored your system from scratch on a new hard drive (since you state the
problem arose from a hard disk failure) there would have been no saved
passwords within IE anyway.
