Download test files using FrontPage & not a FTP program

Using FrontPage 2002

On a FrontPage web site, I am using some webbots, where the data entered is
sent via email and stored in a file under /_private/abc.txt on the hosting
web server. However, if I attempt to download the text file with an ftp
program, it corrupts the web server FrontPage extensions and I have to start
all again to be able to publish FrontPage to the web server. Is there a way
I can download the text file that stores the data entered using FrontPage or
any other way, that will definitely not corrupt the web Server FrontPage
extensions.

Thanks in advance,

I don't see how copying a file/s from a FP web using FTP could disrupt FP
extensions. Are you sure that the FP extensions didn't go down due to some
other problem?

Another way to download a file from a FP web is to open up FP then connect
to the remote host. Then drag and drop the file into Explorer.
