I have a file named Bluesage Gallery Format.doc which I cannot open any
longer. Windows cannot open this file. I need the Text Recovery Converter,
but cannot find it. Can someone send me a link to this file so I may repair
my doc?

Thank you, I did d'wnld this file, but I do have Word installed as part of
Office 2003.I do not know why this suddenly happened, I could open it
before...I did not knowingly change the save as file type either.

You certainly don't need the Word Viewer if you have Word installed. AFAIK,
the Text Recovery Converter is installed by default. What you need to do is
select the "Recover Text from Any File" option under "Files of type" in the
File Open dialog.

Thanks again, but still no luck. I did find the "files of type selection, but
nowhere could I find any reference to Recover text, or even an option. after
selecting files of type and to top it all off, I can no longer find the file
anyway. It has disappeared from the list of recent word documents that I have
created and I cannot locate it within the system at all. I have absolutely
no explaination for why this has happened. I did not knowingly delete it.
I am not (obviously) a wizard at PC's and could you please explain AFAIK?

Navigate to Start Search and locate the All files and folders
under What do you want to search for?

Mouse click on the arrow. Enter Bluesage*.doc in the All or part
of the filename slot and left mouse click on search.

Let us know if anything is found by the search.

Hi Millie,

In Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control panel you should find a listing for either Microsoft Word 2003 or Microsoft Office
2003. Use the [Change] button there, then in the dialog from Office/Word that comes up choose the Add/Remove Features then the
'advanced' checkbox.

In the 'tree' dialog that follows under Office Shared Features=>Text converters, check to see that the 'Recover Text' converter is
set to 'Run from my computer' (double click the 'sugar cube' next to that feature name to select a setting.

Once the installation is complete, start Word, use Tools=>Options=>General and turn on
[x] Confirm conversion on open
then use File=>Open on your file. If Word no longer sees it as a 'document' it should popup a dialog asking you to choose the
converter.

You can also get that error message if Word has run into some left over 'temporary files' (Word can be like a teenager and not
cleanup its 'room' when it should <g>) but see if that works first.
