Download trial doesn't do much of anything

I just spend half an hour filling out pages of info to get the free
trial version of Project 2007. I downloaded a file called
ProjectProfessional.img, almost 200Mb, and it won't open and MS tells
me it's some kind of image! A picture? Yet none of the programs I
usually use to view images will open it. Is this M$'s idea of a joke?
Does anyone know how to download Project from M$'s website? There must
be some trick which I missed. I know they want this to be as difficult
as possible, but this is just a little bit too much!

Thanks for the help!

Hi Dave,

Sadly you'll need to run a third party software to burn the image (*.img)
file to a CD or DVD.

The link below concerns Visual Studio BETA, but I believe the instructions
to install still apply to other *.img files.

I hope this helps.

After the fiasco of trying to download Project 2007 Pro, I downloaded
Std to try that. What a joke! Why do they bother with a free demo that
won't allow linking, resources, or any other real features of Project?
All you can do is create a task list! Only M$ could be so cheap and
phony! Everytime I think that M$ can't get any cheaper or lower, they
surprise me again.

Thanks, Julie! I got Project Std working finally, so I'm good to go
for the time being.

Hey Dave,

Glad you know you are up and running with Project Standard. I saw your
earlier message about reduced functions in Standard. Were you able to
get it working correctly? I had someone mention lack of menus and other
odd issues with a trial version and I am trying to track down details.
Do you have all of the functions now? If so, what changed since your
last post?

Thanks so much,

Julie

I had to reboot to get it to work. If it needs a reboot, why doesn't
the installer tell me that? But it's working ok now. It was just very
late and I was very tired and needed to get it running for a class
later this week.

Thanks Dave. I'm glad you confirmed that all did work after a reboot. I
*guessed* that was the problem with the installation my contact talked about,
but didn't have a chance to check back with him and confirm that all was
normal after a restart.
