When downloading doc files from the internet (excel and powerpoint as well) the files get saved as templates. Office 2004 did not do this. 2008 does this for all the apps. It also happens when saving files from Lotus Notes. How can this be fixed? I support several hundred users all with the same problem and it is becoming a major issue.

I believe that's a Safari issue. Do you have the same thing if you download
through FireFox for instance??

You can fix the files by changing the extension manually,
