I am new to Mac and Entourage, so I am still trying to figure some things out; so please forgive a newbie for asking what might be a simple question.

I have a large amount of email messages on my Gmail account that I would like to download in Entourage client so I can have them "off-line". I know this is done relatively easy in Outlook and I make an assumption I can do it in Entourage; but how I can't seem to figure it out.

Please help

It would help if you would explain what you've actually tried. Have you
set up your Gmail account as a POP account? Have you tried sending &
receiving? Do you still want the messages to be on the server?

The Gmail account is setup as POP
I did try send/receive (I have received all of my messages from the time I installed Entourage)
Yes, I would like for them to remain on the server for the time being (I know where that setting is)

Once you have downloaded them and they are either in the Inbox under On My
Computer or in any other folder On My Computer they are downloaded and
available even if you are offline.

Entourage downloads only the messages in the Gmail Inbox account. If you
have an archive of older messages in another folder, then you will need to
move them back to the Inbox in order for Entourage to download them.

Is your Gmail set up as POP or IMAP?

They are all in the "inbox" and yes it is setup as POP.

They are all in the "inbox" and yes it is setup as POP.

Perhaps marking them as "unread" will make Entourage download.

You could also set up your account as IMAP and uncheck POP. When you connect
via IMAP you should see all messages. Use "Copy to" or drag the messages to
folders "On My Computer". Uncheck the IMAP account in the Accounts window
and check POP.

Thanks Diane

This sort of did it. I "re-checked" the setting in Gmail marked "Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)". After restarting Entourage the messages started coming in fast and furious. The only down side is they don't have the original date stamps; but I can live with that now that I have the information.

Sort by Sent and not Received.

Glad you got your messages. I suggest that you drag that folder to the
desktop as an MBOX file so you always have them as backup.
