downloading clip art in Office 2000

J

JOC

I have had this problem for over a year but finally need to figure out what's
going on. In my Office 2000 apps when I attempt to use the "clips online"
feature in Clip Gallery 5.0 I always get the same error. I can reach the
Clip Art and Media page fine, I can search for and add items to the basket
without a problem. When I attempt to actually download the items the process
begins and I am prompted to open file ClipArt.cil. I then get an error
message "Could not open file C:\Documents and Settings\...\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5\3B5ZJXKW\ClipArt[1].cil." This seems odd to me since I
don't run IE5. I also don't know why the app looks for the file in that
location but I have no idea how to change settings in either Office or Clip
Gallery or IE to make the process work. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!!

Thanks for the suggestion. I had tried this before (it was the only
recommendation I was able to find online) but I just tried it again and still
have the same problem. Any other ideas?

I don't know if this will make a difference or not but try upgrading your
browser to IE7. You can always go back to IE6 if it doesn't work and/or you
don't like it.

In Internet Explorer, tools, Internet Options, Settings button, Move Folder. You
can move it anywhere. Windows will create a new folder.

You've baffled me with that response. I have several Settings buttons. Which
one? (Plus I have IE7 and that can make a difference.)

You've baffled me with that response. I have several Settings buttons.
Which one? (Plus I have IE7 and that can make a difference.)

In Internet Explorer, tools, Internet Options, Settings button, Move
Folder. You can move it anywhere. Windows will create a new folder.

I have had this problem for over a year but finally need to figure
out what's
going on. In my Office 2000 apps when I attempt to use the "clips
online"
feature in Clip Gallery 5.0 I always get the same error. I can
reach the
Clip Art and Media page fine, I can search for and add items to the
basket
without a problem. When I attempt to actually download the items
the process
begins and I am prompted to open file ClipArt.cil. I then get an
error
message "Could not open file C:\Documents and Settings\...\Temporary
Internet
Files\Content.IE5\3B5ZJXKW\ClipArt[1].cil." This seems odd to me
since I
don't run IE5. I also don't know why the app looks for the file in
that
location but I have no idea how to change settings in either Office
or Clip
Gallery or IE to make the process work. Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks!!

I did but since I don't have IE6 any longer I couldn't compare it. :)
FWIW, I've been running IE7 RC1 since it was released. I've had absolutely
no problems with it.

The reason I haven't used IE7 is most folks haven't downloaded it yet. It makes
life easier if my system is similar to the poster's system. I'm certain IE7
handles the temp folder differently than IE6 and no doubt better. The dilemma is
going to be next year when Vista is rolled out, I expect Windows XP will be
around along time.

I agree with you. I also think that Win XP will be around a while. Heck,
there are still people using Win 98SE and are happy with it. Sometimes you
have to know when to stick with what works. The reason I changed to IE7 was
that I like the tabs it uses. Much easier when you have multiple sites open.
