Downloading Report Information

Is it possible to download report information into Excel or is the only
option to print it?

PJH,
Yes, the information in all the built-in Reports can be replicated (not
downlaoded) through the use of a VBA macro. Depending on the type of
Report information you want, you could also try an export map for static
data or the "Analyze timescaled data in Excel" for timescaled data. The
latter is limited however in the Excel presentation and will probably
require some massaging on your part.

In my opinion the built-in Reports are great if they can be used
directly (i.e. printed) but they lack flexibility that many people
want/need. I favor the custom VBA approach but it does require some
experience with VBA.

Hope this helps.

John is definitely correct about the report information and that is without a
doubt one of my biggest pet peeves with it. What is MS thinking by not
making that information directly accessible? You shouldn't have to write a
macro.

Still, for non-report information, i.e., all of the display type
information, you can go back and forth with Excel. I recently did this for a
contract with ~200 line items which I had hours, task ids/charge #s, SOW Ref
#s, etc. in it. It was so nice to be able to do this.
