downloading templates from MS Office Tools on the Web

Terry Nelson

I have been attempting to download templates from the
site and have not been succesful. In particular I have
tried to download "Templates for standard healthcare
forms (for working online and in print)" in this months
Assistance Center. I can view the templates and there is
a box that states "Edit in Microsoft Word". When I click
on the box, I get a dialog box that states " Microsoft
Word can not be started. If you have this application on
your computer, click the Start Menu, point to Programs ,
and then click Microsoft Word to start the application
and then download the template again." I haave tried this
several times and no luck.

Additionally, I followed the instructions for changing
the security settings of the internet options so that the
trusted sites are http://officeupdate.microsoft.com and
http://search.officeupdate.microsoft.com.

What do I need to do next? I had no problems previously.
I have installed XP OS but I CAN NOT be sure if the
problem is related to the new OS.

Thanks,

Terry

Hi Terry,

What version of Office are you using?

Are you using a firewall product of some type?
If so does it allow Winword.exe to access the
internet when you're on
http://officeupdate.microsoft.com/templategallery
If you use Internet Explorer and use
Tools=>Internet Options=>General=>[Settings=]=>View Objects
doe you have a recent 'Microsoft Office Tools on the Web'
control installed?

Have you done a repair/reinstall of Microsoft Office
and cleared the temporary internet files (cache) in
your browser or using the Windows Disk Cleanup tool?
