Downward Compatibility Problem for Meeting Requests

Hello, I found nothing on this in the knowledge base, so I
hope someone here can help me.

We have 6 machines in the office, 2 running OfficeXP and 4
running Office 2000. It seems that meeting requests from
the XP machines are unreadable in the 2k machines. They
come in as regualar emails with full message headers
rather than as meeting requests. The other XP machine
receives them fine.
Is this a known issue and is there a patch or simple
solution for this that I'm overlooking?

It's a known issue. Try turning off the reminder before sending. You can get a hotfix for OUtlook 2000 if you call Microsoft Support. See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=823199
