Dr. Marcovitz or everyone - Kiosk mode question

I've got a slideshow in Kiosk mode that has an action button that on mouse
click calls another Powerpoint presentation.
The called presentation needs to be in "Presented by a speaker" mode so that
the mouse click will advance through those slides.
The problem seems to be that if the calling slideshow is in Kiosk mode that
it makes the called slideshow go into Kiosk mode even though it was set as
"speaker" mode. Is there something I can do?

Hello Jay,
This is by design, the child inherits the show type properties from the
parent slide show.

As Shyam said, this appears to be by design.

As a workaround, try the following:
1. Set the Action setting to launch the second presentation through
PowerPoint Viewer.
2. Start the first presentation using PowerPoint.

This way, the second presentation should not get affected by the show type
of the first presentation.

What benefit do you get from setting it to kiosk mode?

No need to address a question here to a specific person. I haven't been online in a day or two, but I can't imagine your being in better hands than Shyam, Chirag, and TAJ's. I remember you put the presentation into kiosk mode so the cursor wouldn't disappear. I hope their answers helped. If not, respond here and someone will try to give you a better answer.

When I set up my show to be "browsed at a kiosk (full screen), the cursor
still shows. How do you eliminate the cursor from showing? I am using
PPT2003.

That's a feature of Kiosk Mode. Because all your actions require a mouse
click on an object or hyperlink (unless they are automated), Kiosk Mode
keeps the cursor showing at all times assuming you will want to see it so
you can click on something more easily.

I have a slide show running "automatically" and I didn't want the
directional arrows (or cursor) showing so I set it to kiosk mode thinking
that would work, but what you say makes perfectly good sense. Thanks for
your very quick response.
