Draft folder versus Inbox

Outlook XP on Win XP using exchange server 2003

Recently I have noticed that occassionally a message which I exit using the
BIG RED X saves the message in my inbox, rather than the DRAFTS folder. This
does not happen with all messages, just a few. I have not been able to
determine any consistency in this. Just today two messages were saved into
drafts folder while the last was saved into the inbox.

Can anyone shed any light on this seemingly inconsistent behaviour?
