Drag a sent email to a Word doc.

All I want to do is drag a sent email to a word document for storage. Have
done it 100s of times. Now it just sits and with the hour glass running and
not responding. I have updated all service packs for windows XP/Office XP I
also ran a disk cleanup/defrag and still am unable to do this. Any ideas?
