Drag-able Alignment box

R

I need to drag the alignment box size without changing the geometry of
the shape. And, I would like the geometry to stay in place in
relationship to the page, as I shape the alignment box.

Goofing around in the shapesheet it looks like you change the alignment
box and the geometry follows suit (formulas based on the alignment
box).

It seems that to do what I want, I need a way to tell the geometry to
remember its old locations and go back every time the alignment box
changes???

Has anyone dome this or have any ideas on how to start?

Is this a one-time change to create a shape, or are you trying to build this
behavior into the shape?

I've often wished for a tool like you describe. The best way I know to
accomplish this is to use Shape > Operations > Combine to combine your shape
with a rectangle that matches the desired alignment box size. Draw the
rectangle, then select both shapes and choose the Combine command. Note
that this destroys both shapes and replaces them with a new one with similar
geometry. You can then delete the geometry section that correlates to the
rectangle.

If you want to create a behavior in your shape where it can be sized
independent of the geometry, you need to edit the geometry formulas so that
they do not depend on Width or Height.
