Drag and drop attachments to iPhoto

I'm quite a newbie, running OSX Leopard, iPhoto 8, and Office for Mac 2008.
Before installing Office for Mac, I was using Apple Mail, and I was able to
drag and drop photo attachments directly on the iPhoto icon on the dock.
iPhoto does not seem to allow the same procedure from Entourage, though -
dragging a jpg, for example, directly on the iPhot icon on the dock, does not
launch iPhoto, nor does it add the photo.

I CAN drag the photo to the desktop, THEN to iPhoto, and THEN to the trash.
Messy/awkward/too many steps.

What am I missing, or what is the correct procedure?

Works for me in Tiger. When I drag a .jpg file from the attachments pane
of Entourage 2008 to the dock icon for iPhoto '08, iPhoto launches and
imports the .jpg.
