Drag and drop does not work

There are times when I cannot drag and drop text in Word
2000. I cannot move it around inside the document, or
move it from a paragraph to a table. Is there some
setting, or is my installation bad?

There is a check box to enable drag-and-drop text editing on the Edit tab of
Tools | Options. Perhaps it isn't checked?
