Drag and Drop

Why haven't Microsoft come to the party and helped with a drag and drop
function? I like the example from Peter Software, but it is not free. I
believe such a useful function must be found somewhere free. Anyone help??

PS Before you ask yes I have created something similar, but I've found the
deeper I went the more bases I had to cover - I put it in the too hard
basket.

By crikey. That's exactly (I think) what I'm after. Oh well, how hard can
it be - I'll give it a go.
