drawing canvas & text boxes & what is a drawing canvas?? Thank you

Hi,

I just posted about text boxes turning into graphic box.
It isn't a graphic box it is a drawing canvas. does
anyone know about these drawing canvases & how they
effect text boxes & why does it come up when you are
doing a text box.

Hi Harriet,

As far as Word is concerned, a text box is a graphic element just like
the items in the AutoShapes list on the Drawing toolbar. It lives in a
drawing layer that floats "above" the text layer.

If you don't want that @#$% drawing canvas, go to Tools > Options >
General and uncheck the option for "Automatically create drawing
canvas". To learn why Microsoft thinks you want it -- though I have
yet to meet anyone who thinks it's a good idea -- look in the Help for
the topic "Arranging, aligning, and distributing graphics".
