Drawing group/ungroup

In school I frequently have to use illustrations/drawings included within the
notes to make understanding of a subject easier (quantum mechanics for
semiconductor theory is mind-boggling at times). When the professor goes back
to a point to add more detail, many times it's easier to go to the original
drawing. Using onenote, I am able to scroll up and insert space for the added
detail.

Problem I'm having: Let's say I have two models superimposed over each other
(say a Bohr model of an atom and a De Broglie model - different colors of
course). When I add space above it, the drawings separate. Is it possible to
allow for a "group/ungroup" option that winword has to keep drawings together?

Not exactly but you can select a drawing, then press CTRL and select the
second drawing. Then you can move them together.

Is that workaround good enough for now?

Sounds like it would work. However since I'm still new to the program I
haven't figured out how to "lasso" the drawings to put them together.

Problem is that I have this issue when adding space above the illustration.
I love this feature, however it tends to scatter my notes around rather than
move them in one big block. Perhaps I'm inserting the notes wrong? (I tend to
put illustrations on a side of a written paragraph)

Thanks for the information so far!

You can't lasso in the current version, though it's a popular request.
Inserting space should move everything below it more or intact - I've
never had any problems with it. Are you sure you're starting your insert
ABOVE the items and not overlapping one of them?
