drawing keeps aligning left

I am very new with Visio, so please be patient. Thanks. I am using Visio
2003 Standard edition and for some reason, when I click the Text Tool button,
then the text I wasnt to edit, the whole shifts leaving the text centered on
the left side of the screen. I have worked on a few drawings and this has
not happened. But being new to this program, I have no idea what to change.
Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks again.

Not sure what the problem is, your description is somewhat contradictory.
Is the issue that the drawing shifts when you click somewhere to begin
entering text? Visio has a zoom feature that allows you to easily see what
you're entering. Once done, the drawing window should return to it's normal
view. The amount of zooming may be controlled:
1.) On the Tools menu, click Options.
2.) Click the General tab.
3.) Under Drawing window options, in the Automatically zoom under points
when editing box, enter 0 (zero) for the point size.

What shape do you have selected when you use the text tool?
The Text Tool will edit the text for whichever shape is selected, now,
that shape's text area may have been shifted away from where the shape
may appear to be. When the shape is selected does it show a yellow
diamond? If so then drag that diamond, it controls where the text is
located for that shape.

You may think that no shape is selected but the shape could have been
made invisible.

Wapperdude's solution could also be involved here as well as it would
cause Visio to zoom in on a part of the drawing.
