drawing lines do not print but they show on the document.

I have created several documents and printed from them and they worked fine.
Now when I go into them or try to create a new document and put drawing lines
from the drawing tool bar into it the lines show on my document but not in
print preview or print on the document when printed. how do I correct this?
I have tried everything I can think of.

In Word, click on Tools | Options | View tab | check the "Drawings" box
and uncheck the "Picture placeholders" box | Print tab | check the
"Drawing objects" box | OK.
