in the group tool , a section of the drawing it highlights. in that
highlight area wall shapes etc are outside of group area. what i need is just
the section highlight as in a group action. or just if i put a cookie cutter
on a paper drawing and cut out that section.
thanks paul

Hi Ctrax,

Here's one trick that I sometimes use.

You'll lose the smart-capabilities of your snapshot area, but it gets
the job done.

Select (highlight) all the shapes that you need, including those that
partially stick out of your snapshot ares.

Copy them to the clipboard (Ctrl+C)

Edit > Paste Special > ...as Metafile or Enhanced Metafile.

Now you have an object that you can crop to, say, get rid of the walls.
This object is a vector object, so it will print and scale nicely, but
you've lost the Visio-ness of it. You can't interact with the shapes at all.
