Hi Judy -
You don't fully describe how you went about reinstalling Office so I'll take
this from the top
First, reinstalling Office is rarely the preferred or effective fix for any
maladies. The programs seldom go bad - it's typically supporting files that
corrupt & reinstalling the programs doesn't fix or replace them.
Secondly, in those few situations where it is necessary it does absolutely
no good to reinstall if you don't run the Remove Office utility application
*first* - installing over the existing software or dragging icons to the
Trash accomplishes nothing & can make matters worse. In fact, reinstallation
may be the cause of the situation described in your other post, but Ill
address those points there.
If you haven't already done so you now need to reapply the 11.3.5, 11.3.6 &
11.3.7 updates - in that order. There's also 11.3.8 which can wait until
later, but if you use Help> Check for Updates it will probably handle them
all. Run Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions after applying the updates.
If you still have a problem with the toolbar click the black triangle at its
right end & select Reset Toolbar. Should that fail to correct it - or if the
problem recurs, follow the instructions on the page linked below for
testing/replacing Word's Preferences files:

Even after reinstalling Office 2004 for Mac, whenever I try to open the
drawing toolbar, the Word program freezes and I must use the force quit. I
have an iBook G4, using OS 10.4.10
Thanks a lot!
(P.S. If you also know why the Microsoft Mail Received sounds go nonstop
whenever I open a news server, I'd most appreciate hearing from you!)
