Drawing toolbar won't open

I am running Office X on an iBook G4 with OSX (Panther). In Word,
when I try to open the drawing toolbar, I get the spinning beachball
and eventually have to force quit. I've searched this newsgroup, but
most of the responses I see to this problem are a couple of years old.
I'm wondering if anybody can help. Thanks in advance.

Hi Glynne,

Just because the responses are a couple of years old doesn't mean they don't
still work. What did they say?

Thanks for responding. I guess you're right, old responses aren't
necessarily outdated, but since they predated both my most recent
Office update (I'm running 10.1.5) and my OS (10.3.3), I figured it
was best to get fresh information. Maybe that was a bad assumption.

Anyway, it turned out to be a simple matter. I followed the link you
provided to "general troubleshooting tips," and the instructions under
the heading "check your settings" did the trick. Thank you very
much!!!

Thanks for posting back. In general, testing for a damaged prefs file is a
wise first step for almost any misbehaving mac program, by the way.
