Drawing toolbar

I cannot select the Drawing toolbar on my Mac Office Word program; it is not
highlighted in the available toolbar list and when I attempt to select it
Word hangs up and I have to resort to Force Quit. Is there a work around to
resolve this?

Paul,

Re-setting the menus, as per my post in your thread "Insert Menu - No Insert
Page number option", will fix this problem too, I believe. If the hanging
persists after re-setting the menus, post back.

Cheers,

Clive, Tried that and followed your instructions but Word still hangs up, I
get the multi-coloured catherine wheel ad infinitum and have to resort to
Force Quit. However before that you'll see my page numbering is sorted!

I was hoping the Word 5.1 menus would also sort the Drawing toolbar. bummer.

Consistent and reproducible problems in Word usually respond to one of
the standard troubleshooting measures, which you will find listed here:
http://word.mvps.org/Mac/TroubleshootingIndex.html

The most common culprit is a corrupted Normal template or damaged
Preferences file--I'd test the Normal template first.

Daiya,
I'm going to sound a bit thick here but how does one test the Normal
template?

I have visited the mvps site but cannot seem to find anything appropriate;
last week I found several similar requests for help on this Word hang up
issue with the Drawing Toolbar (unfortunately can't remember which site that
was on) and several 'known issue' pointers to the same mvps site so I seem to
be going round in circles with this one!

There's a Normal Template link on the Troubleshooting Index link I gave.
It will tell you. Under General Troubleshooting.

Daiya,
Many thanks - problem now resolved as per your direction and my eventual
understanding of the instructions on the mvps link. Very Many thanks. Merry
Christmas

Glad to help--the troubleshooting index is a useful resource.

Feel free to offer feedback if some directions were confusing--we'll be
updating the page eventually, especially after 2008 is out.
