The current issue of ON does not support drawing tools other than crude
squiggly lines and circles. While I do not want the cost and complexity of
Smartdraw, I do want some better drawing tools. Priority is first of all to
be able to place anywhere on the drawing canvas a connection point including
the periphery of any object. Next is the ability to connect the points with
straight lines. This gives us the ability to do block diagrams, organization
charts and some clean looking drawings with text in the middle. A point of
sophistication would allow lines to be defined in length so enabling angles
to be defined.
I hope these next generation tools will be not too far away.
