Drawing

I cant draw anything in Word 2003 although I can click on the tools i.e.
click on textboxes and the cursor changes to a pointer and a canvas comes up.
But cant draw ias t just deselects whenever I try to draw on the canvas.
Plus I cant resize textboxes as they become objects rather than editable
textboxes. The same is the case for lines and Autoshapes, I can WordArt and
drop pictures and objects into my documents. I have checked permission states
of the document but no luck as the document do not have password protection.
I suspect my document template(Normal.doc) is corrupt but reinstalling the
software and also repairing does not resolve this issue? I can stilll get
rid of the canvas if I so wish but this does not resolve the problem. Is an
issue with Administrator privileges? b'cos I do have Administrator
privileges. I have also tried loading my version on a friend's pc and it
works fine on theirs?? Anyone with registry experience might be best disposed
to answer this one.

Go to Tools > Options > General and de-select the last option "Automatically create drawing canvas when inserting AutoShapes".
