Drawings and Graphics don't display in Word

I can't get the drawings and graphics to display except in print preview. I
checked Microsoft support site and they show an Office post service 1 hotfix
note 895317 as the solution to the problem. However, they also indicate that
Office service pack 2 fixes the problem and I am at service pack 2. Checking
the service pack 2 list of fixes, 895317 is not shown. I can't find this
hotfix anywhere. Can somebody help?

Before you start worrying about getting the hotfix, make absolutely
sure your situation meets at least one of the listed descriptions
*exactly*. This is not a general problem with displaying all sorts of
graphics. If you're inserting .jpg or .gif graphics and they don't
show on screen in Print Layout view, the problem is probably that the
Drawings option is unchecked in the Tools > Options > View dialog.

The fact that you have service pack 2 and the problem is still there
(regardless of whether the service pack fix list contains this
article) indicates that your problem probably is not the one
described.

If you think your problem does exactly fit the description (.emf file
meeting the described conditions, or an Excel worksheet containing a
gradient bar, or a .cgm file), then contact the Microsoft Product
Support Service as mentioned in the Hotfix Information section. If PSS
determines that you need the hotfix in addition to the service pack,
they'll tell you where you can download it. It won't be posted
anywhere in the public areas.

If you've ignored the hotfix requirements and PSS confirms that your
diagnosis is wrong, expect to be charged for the support incident.

Thank Jay.
Drawings is checked in the Tools -> View dialog. If I import pictures, i.e.
png, jpeg, they show OK. If I convert my graphics to pdf files they display
OK. If I insert an object i.e. a ppt slide then the problem happens. Any
further ideas?

From your latest description, the problem definitely is not the one
described in the hotfix article (895317).

Try the various suggestions in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/285957
and let us know whether it helps.
